Hallie Jade

The Artist Path | Songwriting Coach & Artist Developer

Hallie Ballou is an Americana singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in honest storytelling, emotional resilience, and the belief that the most powerful songs are the ones that tell the truth. Raised in a small fishing village at the end of the road in Alaska, Hallie grew up surrounded by music, nature, and stories that continue to shape her writing today.

Mentored early in songwriting by Atz Kilcher, Hallie developed a deep understanding of songwriting as more than craft—it is a way to explore memory, emotion, healing, and connection. Her music blends Americana, folk, and country, with intimate lyrics that explore love, heartbreak, motherhood, nostalgia, resilience, and the complicated beauty of becoming yourself.

Hallie brings that experience into her work as a songwriting educator and mentor. She previously served as the Songwriting Program Director at Idyllwild Arts Academy, where she worked with emerging artists on songwriting, performance, and artistic identity. She now teaches with Artist Pathway, guiding students to look inward, tell their own stories, and discover their unique voice as songwriters.

Her teaching philosophy centers on authenticity and emotional connection. Rather than trying to make students sound like anyone else, Hallie helps them uncover what is uniquely theirs—their perspective, their experiences, and their way of expressing them through song. She believes the strongest songwriting happens when artists have the courage to be honest and trust their own voice.

After stepping away from performing for many years to raise her children, Hallie returned to music with a renewed sense of purpose and vulnerability. Now based in Southern California, she continues to write, perform, and mentor the next generation of songwriters.
